From September 26-September 30, 2009 I will be joining 249 other riders on the 2009 Brita Climate ride. We are traveling 300 miles from NYC to Washington DC to show our support & raise awareness for meaningful action on climate change and renewable energy. Our ride will end up on the Senate Lawn, with the Capitol in the background, where we will make a statement about the need for climate change action and access to renewable energy.

I have decided to take part in this for a number of reasons.  First and foremost, I truly believe in the cause.  I ‘m doing this so that Josephine and her children (one day…), or her children’s children will be able to grow up in a world as beautiful and diverse as the one I (and you) did.  Or even have a world to live in at all! I would also love to see our urban areas & roads become more accommodating of bicycles and cyclist & see more people use the bicycle as a mode of transportation.  Since moving into a town last year, I have used my bike to run over 200 miles of small errands.  While in and of itself, 200 miles doesn’t seem like a lot, just imagine if everyone did the same thing last year…

I also love to ride my bike.  Last year I rode over 2,000 miles.  I’ve never taking part in a multi-day bike tour before, and am more then a little excited (and scared) at the idea!  Our route takes us through the farm lands & back-roads of New Jersey, Pennsylvania (we go by my house!) and Maryland before finally ending our journey on the closed streets of our nations capitol.

I’ve already begun working on my physical preparation necessary for this endeavor.  Each day averages 63 miles (or 5-6 hours) in the saddle.  I’ve done numerous 60+ mile rides before, I’ve just never done them 5 days in a row! I am being joined on this adventure by my good friend & riding buddy Neil.  Neil also happens to be one of our first wedding clients, in fact that is his hand on the Contact page of weddingbyjames.com!  So together we will be spending our summer evenings & Sunday afternoons on our bikes getting our legs (and butts!) ready for this epic ride.

We need to raise a minimum of $2,400 each in order to be able to participate in the ride. Every donation counts no matter how small!!  Remember all donations are tax deductible!  You can donate online using the fund-raising link below, or you can contact me to send a check (or cash locally).  And to put my money where my mouth is… POD Visual Imagery will be donating $200 to each me and Neil’s fundraising pages in the up-coming weeks!!

Currently I’m number 6 in overall fund raising and Neil is number 4!!  We still have a long way till we reach our goals so we need your help!!

Sorry we haven’t updated this in a bit, been kinda busy around here!!  We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season.  Josephine is doing wonderful and everyone is adjusting to our new lives.  Its been interesting having a newborn baby around the office all the time, certainly is not helping productivity levels!  We have new pictures coming soon, I’ve been so busy getting our weddings done that I haven’t had a chance to look at them.

Today is our last wedding of the year (2008)!!  While technically its 2009, we haven’t had a break so our 2008 season marches on!  Seems like only yesterday we were packing our bags and headed to sunny Puerto Rico to kick off our season! I guess its only fitting that the last one be on a cold snowy day!  It has been a wonderful year and we have had such an amazing time at everyone’s weddings!  We are on (a much needed) hiatus until the beginning of May when our year kicks off full swing.

Speaking of 2009, we are nearly booked to capacity!!  As of today we only have four spots left before we hit our limit for the year!!  Be sure and contact us right away to secure your date!  In addition we have completed our 2009 bridal catalog with our new packages for the next year.  We spent a lot of time evaluating our customers needs over the last four years and feel our new packages represent a tremendous amount of value.

Well, we finally joined Facebook and have created pages for both aspects of the business.  Be sure to add Mary and myself to your friends list and become a fan of the business!  We are also planning on adding small galleries of our favorite pictures from each wedding to the site, so be sure and tag yourself into the photos!

And now to talk about something other than weddings; in September we spent 2 days with one of our clients (Signature Audio Systems) photographing  custom home AV integration. I finally got back to work this week and started whittling down my To-Do list.  I was out of the office for almost two weeks and have a ton to catch up on!!  Wanted to put a few baby pics online because I know everyone is waiting for them!!

Last night, in addition to watching the Phillies win the world series, we welcomed our daughter Josephine into this world!!!

Mom and baby are both doing awesome and recovering nicely. We will have more pictures online as soon as possible. In the meantime, you can check out the two below!!

I’m expecting to be out of the office the rest of this week and a good portion of next week. I’ll be checking email and phone messages and respond when I can.

Just wanted to let everyone know we are on our way to the hospital for the birth of our daughter!!! I’ll be out of the office for a few days and I might be a bit slow responding to emails.

5 WEEKS AND COUNTING… Mom and baby are both doing great!!  We had our baby showers these past two weekends and want to say a special thank you to all our past clients who were able to come out and share the day with us!

In addition to baby prep, we’ve been hard at work on our new pricing for our custom albums.  We simplified the pricing structure, and lowered prices on a few items.  We’ve put a PDF of our new price list up in the albums section of the weddings by james website.  You can also download a copy of it by clicking HERE.

Before the end of September we will be rolling out our new wedding packages.  After 4 years of meeting with brides and listening to what they want we think our new packages will be a huge hit!

Starting in October we are switching to a new online hosting service for our events.  The change will bring a slew of new administration features for us and benefits for our clients as well.  A few new things are a cleaner interface, with more products available for ordering online, and less junk mail in your inbox!  We will post more information later in the month once the switchover draws closer.
